We are the 'Keen Green Eco Team' of Camphill Primary School

3rd Apr 2017
We are the 'Keen Green Eco Team' of Camphill Primary School

In Camphill Primary school we have 3 ‘Eco’ Teams. Eco Council, Eco Committee and Eco Warriors. Each year group throughout the school is represented through the Eco Council. Our Eco Committee work really hard along with our Parent Helper Mrs Anderson, to make our school a more environmentally friendly place. The children enjoy learning about wildlife, recycling and growing our own produce.

Our Eco Code

Keep our school and its grounds litter free  -Use litter bins

We will operate a ‘turn it off’ campaign - Save electricity

We will Recycle Paper

We will show respect for our school and our environment

‘Eco Day 2017’

On Thursday 6th April 2017 the whole school took part in an Eco Day! Luckily the weather was good and all classes were able to be outside at different times of the day. We all had a very productive day and with valuable help from parents and our caretaker we achieved wonderful things!

Each year group now have their own ‘Trough box’ at the front of the school. The boxes are all linked to what the children are learning about in class. We also have a beautiful multicoloured fence around our play park. Phase two is due to start soon. It really looks fantastic! An area at the back of the school was also developed during our Eco day and 4 tonnes of pink stones were delivered. This will soon be our ‘Fairy Garden’

Best Kept Schools Competition – Judging takes place on Friday 5th May. We have been working very hard to keep our school tidy. We hope the judges are impressed with all our hard work.

Eco Flag -The Eco Team have applied to renew the Green Eco School Flag. Judges from ‘Keeping Northern Ireland Beautiful’ will hopefully visit our school before the end of June.

Sustrans – This year we have developed links with Sustrans Active Schools and we are hoping to achieve our Bronze award. We held a ‘Ditch the Dark’ day and we all made efforts to take part in the ‘Big Pedal’.
