P5WS write their Class Charter

22nd Sep 2021

Primary 5WS have been very busy the last few days working together to write their Class Charter. To begin with everyone worked in groups to read through the UN Convention Rights of the Child, in child friendly language of course. Each group then selected the five rights which they considered to be the most important in the classroom situation. Next the groups were ask to report back with their ideas and we all agreed upon the five most suitable rights for our Class Charter. We chose the following articles -

Article 2

We have the right to equality. we have the responsibility to be kind and helpful to everyone .

Articke 16

We have the right to privacy. We have the responsibility to keep our personal information safe.

Article 27

We have the right to food, clothing and a safe home. We have the responsibility to look after our belongings and not waste food,

Article 29

We have the right to an education. We have the responsibility to listen to others, be sensible in class and follow the rules.

and Article 39

We have the right to help. We have the responsibility to let someone know if we need help or are hurt.

As you can see we also discussed how with each right comes a responsibility. To finish off our session Miss Service asked us all to design a superhero which we could display alongside our rights in our Class Charter. I think you’ll all agree it’s certainly a very bright and colourful addition to our classroom!
