World Book Day in P3SG 📚

7th Mar 2024

This year the theme for World Book Day is 'A book for Bedtime'. So today we all came to school dressed up in our pyjamas and brought our favourite books to school. We started off the day by listening to a Newsdesk article all about World Book Day. Then we had a visit from Mr O'Hare's Primary 6 class. We were all paired up with a P6 and took some time for them to read to us. We all really enjoyed this! Next we did a special World Book Day quiz and the Primary 6's helped us to record our answers to the different questions. This was great fun and we all did so well answering the questions about different book characters. Some of the class also shared which favourite book they had brought to school and explained why it was their favourite.

We also took some time to look at the various UNICEF articles that link to World Book Day. It was very interesting and helped us to remember how ALL children in the world have these rights. Looking at articles 17, 19 and 31 helped us to understand how fortunate we are to be able to celebrate World Book Day and have lots of lovely books to read and enjoy.

What a great day! We are all really looking forward to our visit to the Book Fair tomorrow.
