P7 Visit to Pogue's Entry in Antrim
26th Oct 2017
Both P7 classes travelled to Antrim on Thursday 26th October to visit Pogue's Entry in Antrim. This historic corner of Antrim contains the childhood home of Alexander Irvine, who wrote a famous book, ‘My Lady of The Chimney Corner.’ Bill, our guide, met us there and told us about Alexander's boyhood years in Pogue’s Entry and described the lives of Irish country folk during the famine and post-famine days. As we are studying the Irish Famine this term, it was very interesting and informative to hear what Bill had to say. He also showed us how to make paper, which fascinated everyone!
