P4JC Art and Design Factory Online Art Lesson

8th Feb 2024

This morning we had an online art lesson with Sinéad from The Art and Design Factory. She taught us step by step how to paint our own version of Claude Monet’s seascape ‘Path in the Wheat at Pourville’. We began by drawing the main features with pencil. Sinéad explained how to split our page into quarters to get the proportions and perspective right. Then we used our fingers to measure out the spacing of different aspects such as the sea, cliffs and path in the picture. Next we used Oil Pastels to add some colour to our pictures. Sinéad talked about the colour wheel and how some colours are called complimentary colours as they go well together with other colours on the opposite side of the colour wheel. Finally we painted in the details of the sky, sea, wheat field, hedges and path. We all had a fantastic morning and have made some beautiful artwork. Well done boys and girls!
