Girls Make History!

20th May 2022

The first ever Ballymena Primary Schools Football Association Girls tournament was held on Thursday 19th May 2022 at the Ballymena Showgrounds.

Camphill took a mixture of P6 and P7 Girls to the tournament to play against a variety of schools. In our group games we played against; St Colmcilles, Carnaghts and Buick Primary Schools. The team had a tough run in the group, but with each game the girls showed improvement and most importantly played with a smile on their face.

We qualified for the semi-final of the shield where we met Carniny PS. The game was very tightly contested and ended in a 0-0 draw after extra time. The game therefore went to penalties and goals from Esther and Kate ensured we nicked a win and progressed to the Shield final.

In the final we played against Ballykeel PS and again the teams were evenly matched. The girls battled hard to defend as a team and create a few great chances, two of these chances were taken by Esther who slotted the ball past the Ballykeel keeper brilliantly on both occasions to give Camphill a 2-0 win.

A massive well done to all schools involved on the first ever girls' tournament run by the BPSFA, it was a great day and very well organised.

Congratulations to our girls who came away as Shield winners and to Moorfields who won the cup.
