Anti bullying week in P5JD/FG

27th Nov 2020

As part of Anti- Bullying week, we thought about how words can make an impact.

When we say something .. we need to remember to ask ourselves.. is it kind?

To show how words can impact our lives, we took part in the ‘crumpled paper lesson’

This is a very powerful ‘bullying’ lesson  which is used to show the lasting impact that anti social and cruel behaviour can have.

The paper represents our heart. At the beginning we see how perfect and beautiful the heart is, however each time a cruel or hurtful comment is made they are asked to crumple their paper (heart) a little. Every time someone says something that isn’t so nice towards another person.. it crinkles a little more. Even though an apology may be made later, the crinkle cannot be smoothed out and the paper will never be the sameness again.

We tried to make our paper smooth again but it was impossible! We thought about how we all have the responsibility to care for other people and their feelings!
